Description
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, National Risk Management Research Laboratory, Sustainable Environments Branch, Cincinnati, OH, is seeking the the services of a contractor with mathematical or macro-economic expertise to develop appropriate economic models for insertion into computer simulations of combined ecological-economic-social systems. The results of the simulations would provide needed guidance to the EPA in formulation sustainable environmental management policies. The contractor shall develop and deliver a mathematical macro-economic model for a simple trading system for incorporation into the ecological food web model already developed at the U.S. EPA. The food web model includes a population of top omnivores which is intended to serve as surrogate human population. The task is basically that of developing a simulated economic model for this top omnivore population. Developing the macro-economic model may include organizing the top omnivore population into trading groups, creating basic market rules, and other associated tasks. The macro-economic model must be suitable for incorporation into the existing food we model. The macro-economic model must also be suitable for running computer simulations of the combined ecological and macro-economic model. The mathematical model shall consist of the appropriate differential equations and associated algebraic equations derived under this contract. This is a small business set-aside. This procurement will be processed under FAR Part 13 (simplified acquisition procedures). The SIC is 8999, the small business size standard is $5.0. It is anticipated that request for quotations shall be issued on 12/14/01, with quotes due around 1/4/02.
