- Description
- The United States Agency for International Development in Bangladesh (USAID/Bangladesh) plans to issue a Request for Applications (RFA) to implement a health and family planning service delivery program. The RFA will likely be released in mid-December, 2001, and the closing date for receipt of application is expected to be in mid-February, 2002. USAID/Bangladesh anticipates awarding a cooperative agreement for a period of 53 months. Subject to the availability of funds, USAID intends to provide approximately $60,000,000 (sixty million) in total USAID funding to be allocated over the 53-month period for this activity. USAID reserves the right to fund any or none of the applications submitted. The overall objective of this activity is to reduce fertility and improve health by enhancing the role of NGOs to provide essential health and family planning services within the context of the Bangladesh Government's Health and Population Sector Strategy. The Recipient shall be required to implement the Bangladesh NGO Service Delivery Program (NSDP), which focuses on: expanding the range and improving the quality of essential health and family planning services provided by NGOs at the clinic and community level; increasing the use of those services provided by Non-Government Organizations (NGOs) through communication campaigns conducted through mass media and at the community level in NGO catchment areas; increasing the capacity of NGOs to sustain clinic and community-based service provision institutionally and financially; and influencing Bangladesh Government policy so as to expand the role of NGOs as providers of essential health and family planning services within the national health system. The preferred method of distribution of USAID procurement information is via the Internet or by e-mail requests for a copy of the solicitation on a 3.5" floppy disk (Microsoft WORD format). This CBD notice can be viewed and downloaded using the Agency Web Site. The RFA, once issued, can be downloaded from the Agency Web Site. The World Wide Web Address is http://www.usaid.gov.
