Description

WORK TO BE DONE: Renovation of the computer room consists of dividing the existing computer room (approximately 750 SF) located on the second floor of Building SX-1, into a smaller computer room (approximately 375 SF) and a 10 station computer training center (approximately 375 SF) on the east and west side of the building, respectively. Intent of this project is to provide a comfortable training environment suitable for teaching and learning; provide for handicap access; ensure the training and computer rooms are capable of maintaining a constant temperature and relative humidity; have a redundant cooling system for the computer room via the training room cooling system; minimize noise transfer between the training room and computer room; and the installation of energy efficient systems wherever possible. =20 The proposed contract is set aside under the Buy Indian Act for 51 percent Indian-owned, controlled and operated firms. In accordance with the Health and Human Services Acquisition Regulation paragraph 370.503 (E), not more than 50 percent of the work to be performed under a prime contract awarded pursuant to the Buy Indian Act shall be subcontracted to other than Indian firms. For this purpose, work to be performed does not include the provision of materials, supplies, or equipment. In order for Indian firms to prove they can meet the qualification requirement of the Buy-Indian Set-Aside restriction, i.e. bidders who are currently certified by the Indian Health Service or the Bureau of Indian Affairs as an Indian Firm, need to submit this certification (Tribal Affiliation and Degree of Indian Blood) with their offer. Bidders who are not currently certified by IHS or BIA are required to submit proof of ownership and eligibility for Indian preference under the Buy Indian Act. Joint Ventures will be considered as long as the Indian firm is the managing entity. Estimated contract period is 90 calendar days. Estimated magnitude of construction is $100,000 to $200,000. This will be a firm fixed price contract. Award will be based on the lowest bid price from a responsive, responsible contractor. Requests for each set of Plans and Specifications must be accompanied by a NONREFUNDABLE fee (Cashiers Check, Certified Check, or Money Order) made payable to Indian Health Service in the amount of $ 25.00. =20 Bid opening date is scheduled O/A January 17, 2002 at 2:00PM (CST).
