- Description
- Sources Sought: The U.S. Army Soldier and Biological Chemical Command, Soldier Systems Center has a need to identify possible commercially available fabrics for a potential future wear test of an all-season dress overcoat. The fabrics must be produced in the U.S. of U.S. made fibers. The Government is not mandating the type of fibers or the weight of the fabric to be used, except that it shall include some percentage of wool in the fabric blend to ensure a sharp/neat/dressy appearance to be used for a dr ess overcoat. The requirements of this fabric are: The fabric shall have water-repellent properties, the fabric shall be an all-season weight with properties to be warm enough to be worn in the fall/winter (with a liner) and light enough to be worn in sp ring/ summer (without liner). Cost will be a final determining factor. NO SOLICITATION CURRENTLY EXISTS. Companies interested in having their fabric samples considered for possible future use must submit 3 yards of fabric along with an information pap er (specification sheet) describing the fabric in detail to include such things as fabric name, place of manufacture, location of source of fibers, blend of material, current uses for fabric, pricing information (cost per yard) and any other information th at the company feels appropriate. If one of the fabric samples is chosen for further testing, the manufacturer must have available/or be able to produce the needed yardage of fabric for a wear test in a short period of time. The samples and information paper must be submitted no later than 31 Jan 02 to Ms. Pam Moriarty, US Army Soldier & Biological Chemical Command, Natick Soldier Center, ATTN: AMSSB-RIP-RSQ(N), Room D-226, Kansas Street, Natick, MA 01760-5019. All responses must be in writing. No telephonic responses will be accepted.
