Description

Contractors may view and/or download this solicitation and all amendments from the internet after solicitation issuance. Plans and specifications will be issued on Compact Disk (CD-ROM) and will be provided free of charge. Only 50 CDs will be issued. CDs will be issued only to prime contractors and plan rooms on a first come first served basis. Description of Work: The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Savannah District, requires a contract for the Upgrading of the Deployment Staging Area and Construction of Open Storage Area located at the Military Ocean Terminal Sunny Point, North Carolina. Work has been divided into two schedules as follows: SCHEDULE I Deployment Staging Area requires construction of three, open-sided canopies at three existing rail/truck explosive cargo transfer areas (TA). Construction requires heavy frames, large spread footings, and frame to accommodate oversized bays and hurricane level lateral wind loads. Supporting facilities consist of electric service for interior lighting and receptacles, relocation of a security fence and construction of ramps for existing loading docks at TA1; and filling an existing drainage ditch and excavating a new ditch at TA2. Five additives are included at TA2 to provide for five additional bays. SCHEDULE II -- Open Storage Area requires construction of an asphalt hardstand staging area. Supporting facilities include utilities, electric service, exterior lighting, storm drainage, detention ponds, and site improvements. Four additives are included as follows; (1) Add electrical service for area of pavement covered under base bid with one foot candle lighting layout. (2) Add 5 foot candles electrical lighting layout to area of pavement covered under bid pavement; (3) add additional asphalt pavement with 5 foot candles electrical lighting layout and (4) add concrete strips (landing gear pads for trucks) to all asphalt paved areas covered in the base bid. The estimated cost of the project is between $1,000,000.00 and $5,000,000.00. Network Analysis will be required. This solicitation is restricted to eligible 8(a) contractors whose Regional SBA Office is located in Region 4. This solicitation will be issued in electronic format only and will be available on or about December 18, 2001 on the internet at http://ebs.sas.usace.army.mil/ Notification of amendments will be through use of the Internet.
