- Description
- The Defense Distribution Center requires the necessary services, labor, material, equipment and control components to remove 18 existing Kenway S&R Cranes and associated components. Provide and install 18 new properly operating S&R Cranes, rails, necessary overhead and floor mounted components. Refurbish 18 existing end-of ?the-aisle Queue Conveyors. Provide and install new operating S&R Crane and Queue Control Systems, and the supporting electrical systems. New equipment will interface with Government Distribution Standard System (DSS) & Equipment Control System (ECS). Data requirements will be included in the solicitation. It is essential that the installation be managed to minimize disruption. The ASM consist of 18 captive S&R Cranes in 18 storage aisles. Only one aisle can be worked on at a time. Each storage aisle is 195 ft long and 64 inches wide with 37 ft high tray stowage racks on both sides of each aisle. The ASM stores over 61,000 metal trays. The tray sizes are 48 inches long, 24 inches wide, and 4, 8, or 16 inches high, and the trays themselves are further sub-divided into 226,000 total individual storage locations. Each tray is capable of storing a maximum of 500 pounds of stock items. Each new S&R Crane will need to be capable of performing at least 40 full-aisle-length round-trip cycles per hours to adequately meet maximum through-put requirement. The solicitation contains additional specifications and drawings. The electronic Request for Solicitation Specification Package will be available on-line for release to the general public on or about 15 Jan 2002. A Pre-proposal Conference will be held during the week of January 23, 2002 at DDHU, located at Hill Air Force Base, north of Salt Lake City, Utah. To receive award resulting from solicitations issued after May 31, 1987, your company MUST be registered in the DID Central Contractor Registration (CCR) database. The solicitation will be posted to FEDBIZOPS. A hard copy of the solicitation will not be issued. Contractor may obtain copy by downloading information on registration and annual confirmation requirements by calling 1-888-293-6498 of via the Internet at www.ccr2000.com. During the initial market survey it was determined that the crane unit with state-of-the-art capabilities and features similar to those of the HK Systems HK-750, or the Siemens Dematic AKL-300, or an equivalent should meet the requirements for the basic S&R Crane. This acquisition is unrestricted and open to both small and large business concerns. The Government will award a contract resulting from this solicitation to the responsible offeror whose offer conforming to the solicitation considered most advantageous to the Government, price and other factors considered. The following factors will be used to evaluate offers in descending order of importance: Technical approach, past performance and price. The acquisition method will be Request for Proposal using FAR Part 12, Acquisition of Commercial Items.
