Description
The Army Research Laboratory intends to negotiate with the University of Arizona for Statement of Work Titled: Software for Visualizing Co-evolutionary Algorithms. This effort supports the mission of the Human Research and Engineering Directorate Field El ement at Ft. Huachuca, AZ. The scope of work will include developing user interfaces, coding of a war gamer algorithm, and the display of vignettes generated by a co-evolutionary algorithm (Hillis & Winkler, 2001). The visualization and evaluation softwar e will be developed using the Advanced Tactical Combat Knowledge Architecture (ATACK) developed by the University of Arizona to rapidly prototype and evaluate advanced military visualization concepts. Task 1. Generate a user interface allowing the operato r to choose vignettes, battles within vignettes, experimental conditions, and input pertinent data files. Task 2. Implement war gamer algorithm in the programmer language C to be compatible with co-evolutionary algorithm. The contractor's algorithm must be able to read and evaluate files from the co-evolutionary algorithm. Task 3. Create files to store selected outputs from co-evolutionary algorithm within the visualization generating software architecture. Task 4. Create visualization software to displ ay results of co-evolutionary battles in both an animated formatted and a summary format. Task 5. Create six 10-minute vignettes based on visualization software and stored battles including probes and data capture software for evaluation purposes. Negotia tions are planned solely with the University of Arizona. The modeling and simulation laboratory has successfully integrated similar genetic algorithms and wargaming logic within the ATACK software environment. The rapid prototyping visualization capabili ties of ATACK and their previous algorithmic integration and development experience in the military intelligence domain, gives the UofA the unique capacities necessary to accomplish the program tasks with the limited resources and timeline available to acc omplish this project. All responsible sources may submit their capabilities statement/proposal referencing W813LT 1344-7016 and must be faxed to Jeanine Worthington, 410-278-6522. Telephone inquiries not accepted. NOTE 22
