Description
The U.S. Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command (TACOM)is seeking potential sources of supply to produce Pile Driving Sets for the newly fielded All Terrain Crane (ATEC)(Grove Model AT-422T) and the future Heavy Engineer Crane (HEC). TACOM is preparing to issue a solicitation for Pile Driving Sets. This announcement is to provide offerors advance notification of our intentions and seeking responses to the Market Survey Questionnaire, which will be posted to the TACOM homepage. All responses and comments must be received no later than close of business January 30, 2002. DESCRIPTION OF REQUIREMENTS: The Pile Driving Set is defined as a system of hammers, leads, caps, and power units, if needed, capable of driving and extracting all types of piles. Pile types will include timber, seamless steel pipe, concrete and steel H-beam bearing, sheet steel, steel pipe, and round concrete piling ranging in length from 20 to 60 feet and diameters from 10 to 20 inches. The Pile Driving sets are being procured to replace obsolete drop and diesel hammers with multiple sized leads, operating weights ranging from 5,000 to 14,000 pounds, and striking energies from 8,000 to 30,000 ft-lbs/min. Obsolete equipment was used with lattice boom and hydraulic boom cranes (fixed leads) ranging in capacity from 20 to 60 tons. New sets will be used on GROVE AT422T (lift capacity 44,000 pounds at 6 foot radius) and planned Heavy Engineer Crane (HEC) (lift capacity 80,000 pounds at 12 foot radius). Sets may be divided into multiple types for campatibility with each crane. TACOM intends to use commercial practices, components, and technology to the maximum extent possible. TACOM intends that the contract types and quantities will be as follows: ATEC: Firm-Fixed-Price, minimum of 2 year requirements type contract for 95 sets. HEC: Incorporated as a requirement in a vehicle contract, Firm-Fixed-Price, minimum of 5 year requirements type contract for somewhere between 15 -- 35 sets.
