Description
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with SEMTech Solutions, Inc., No. Billerica, MA for Full Service Maintenance of one (1) AMRAY 1000 (S/N 1000A U/4) Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b) Only One Source Reasonably Available. The proposed contractor was founded to meet the need that was developed when the OEM manufacturer of the equipment elected to not support this older microscope. Award to another source would jeopardize the level of expertise of the service quality that NIST is confident it must receive to properly maintain the equipment to achieve maximum operation ability. Maintenance will include inspection and testing a minimum of two (2) times during the duration of the initial agreement and covers all necessary on-site repairs, calibrations, adjustments and replacements to the instrument during normal usage. The plan covers labor, parts, travel and related expenses. A firm fixed price Purchase Order will be issued on or about 01/14/02. The period of performance is a base period of 12 months, with four (4) one-year option periods. The NAICS code for this acquisition is 811219 and the size standard is $5.0 mil. Interested parties may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement, in writing. This notice of intent is not a request for competition. However, the Government will consider all responses received by the closing date. Written responses to this synopsis shall contain sufficient documentation to establish a bona fide capability to fulfill the requirement. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed requirement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received is normally considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. A Request for Quotation (RFQ) is not available
