- Description
- The on-site hypochlorite generation system shall be a skid-mounted device that converts water, salt, and electricity into 0.8% sodium hypochlorite to be used for disinfection of drinking water. Water shall be fed into a brine saturator after passing through a water softener and a hot water heater. The brine shall be fed via bellows pumps into the cell units where it shall be converted to 0.8% sodium hypochlorite. The hypochloriteThe NaCl: - dry basis 99.97% minimum - wet basis 96.3% minimum Calcium Sulfate 0.30% maximum Magnesium Chloride 0.06% maximum Calcium Chloride 0.10% maximum Magnesium Sulfate 0.02% maximum Insolubles 0.1% maximum Moisture (as H2O) 3.0% maximum Lead 0.0007% maximum Copper 0.0003% maximum Iron (as Fe) 0.002% maximum Fluoride 0.01% maximum System Efficiencies (Electrolytic Cell): ? The electrolytic cell shall consume a maximum of 3.0 pounds of salt per pound of chlorine equivalent output using solar salt containing no organic binders, flow control agents, or resin cleaning material. ? The electrolytic cell shall consume a maximum of 2.0 AC kilowatt-hours of electricity per pound of chlorine equivalent output. ? The electrolytic cell shall consume a maximum of 15.0 gallons of water per pound of chlorine equivalent output. It is expected that the raw water supply to the softener shall be free of organics and suspended solids. System Components: Titanium Electrodes: Two (2) each, with temperature and level control assembled within a clear housing. A brine proportioning pump, drain valve, solenoid valve, pressure regulator, and flow switch shall all be included. Control Cabinet: One (1) each, to include: ? One PLC ? Pre-programming and site specific power adjustments ? 203V single phase linear power supply The control cabinet shall include the following features and operating parameters: ? Touch Control: The design shall allow the operator to engage/disengage, momentarily start/stop, check operating hours, reset alarms, fill cell, and check alarm history. ? Status Display: The display shall include amperage and voltage of the cells, running hours, standby, alarm condition and type of alarm, disable and cell fill, tank level, and metering pump speed. ? Alarm Status: In the event of an alarm condition, the alarm type shall be displayed and recorded. Alarms shall include, but not necessarily be limited to, cell level, cell temperature, rectifier alarm for high and low voltage, tank level limit alarm, pressure relief flow switch and blower. ? Automatic Re-Start: In the event of an alarm condition, the system shall be designed to attempt re-starts for a total of 4 times before initiating shut-down alarm. In the event of a power failure, the system shall be designed to automatically re-start based upon the tank level. ? Cell Start-Up: The control system shall be designed to operate the blower and then run the brine proportioning bellows pump for a period between 30 seconds to 2 minutes prior to rectifier start-up in order to ensure appropriate cell level, cooling, and flow. ? Alarm History: The last alarm shutdown shall be displayed. A history of the last 10 events and their alarm types shall be maintained. Each rectifier shall be slave to the tank level controls and alarm shut-down functions. Water Softener: One (1) each skid-mounted, dual tank, continuously operating, automatically regenerating water softener. Filter: One (1) each, 20 micron 10? in line filter contained within clear housing. Brine Tank: One (1) each, minimum 78 gallons non-metallic tank to include lid, sight tube, and level switches. The brine tank shall provide up to eight (8) days of salt storage. This tank shall be a double-walled tank. Hypochlorite Storage Tank: One (1) each, minimum 1000 gallon non-metallic tank to include drain/outlet, all fittings, vent, drain, insulation, and all necessary seismic restraints. This tank shall be a double-walled tank. Ultrasonic Level Indicator: One (1) each, to be included in the storage tank for tank leakage indication. Metering Pumps: Two (2) each, for 54 GPH @ 145 psi flow. Metering pumps to include motor, calibration column, and Y-strainer. Hydrogen Dilution System: One (1) each 30 SCFM system, to include one 1/3 HP blower, airflow switch, differential pressure switch, and check valve. The hydrogen dilution system shall be capable of maintaining hydrogen byproduct at 25% of LEL. The blower shall be designed to dilute accumulated hydrogen within the tank and vent it from the building. A failure of airflow or differential pressure shall cause the hypochlorite generation system to be rendered inactive. Water Heater: One (1) each wall mounted, minimum 4.0 gallon heater. Spare Parts: ? One (1) each replacement fuse for each used in control panel. ? One (1) each spare parts kit for each of the supplied pumps, including brine pump. ? One (1) each spare parts kit for both the backpressure and pressure relief valves. ? One (1) each spare electrolytic cell level and temperature switch assembly. Safety: Interlocks in control cabinet; alarm conditions and operations as specified above; electrolytic cell protection including liquid level monitoring and temperature control. Workmanship Standards: Control cabinet shall be UL 508 and NEMA 12 certified; rectifier cabinet shall be NEMA 12 certified with Class H insulation. Certification: NSF 61 approval for entire system; State of Washington approval for operation of entire system in its intended application. Warranty: Three (3) years complete coverage, minimum.
