- Description
- The intent of this contract is to design a comprehensive interpretive exhibit package for the Bristlecone Pine Forest Visitor Center (Bristlecone VC). In addition to exhibit design, this contract includes fabrication of exhibits, complete installation of exhibits, and development of audio described tour with hardware. This project will entail designing, fabricating and installing exhibits in a 900 square foot exhibit hall, an exterior patio exhibit area, and an exterior welcome kiosk area. The Inyo National Forest has prepared an updated interpretive plan and exhibit descriptions which will be the basis for the themes, stories, goals, objectives and specific exhibits to be designed. The project will include design, fabrication, and installation of exhibits including, but not limited to: flat art exhibit panels, a mural with rail exhibit, high pressure laminate natural history reference pages, and a bristlecone pine forest slab exhibit. The exhibits will focus on high quality presentation and visual appeal rather than electronic and highly interactive exhibitry. The desired outcome and “feel” of the exhibits will be more of museum quality rather than a discovery center exhibit hall. The project is located on at the Schulman Grove Interpretive Site, a day use facility located in the White Mountains of the Inyo National Forest. The site is open from about May 20th to about November 20th. Winter visitors snowshoe, ski, or hike through the snow to the Schulman Grove area. There are no services or facilities open to the public in winter. The estimated start work date is approximately 05/15/2010. The contract time will be 400 days.
