Description
The Maritime Administration (MARAD) requires services for the exclusive temporary safe lay berthing for the T.V. KINGS POINTER, a public vessel of the United States of America that supports Maritime Training and Education at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) at Kings Point, New York. The U.S. Department of Transportation, Maritime Administration (MARAD) is the registered owner of the vessel and the T.V. KINGS POINTER is fully classed with ABS and USCG. The main pier at USMMA is in a state of disrepair and is slated for demolition and reconstruction during the period from December 1, 2010 to August 1, 2012 (approx 20 months). During that time, the vessel needs a temporary berth within the extended New York Harbor area to allow for use of the vessel for periodic training cruises and maintenance and repair by the ship's crew, cadets and/or local contractors when not at sea. Solicitation is extended to other U.S. East Coast locations from Boston, Massachusetts to Norfolk, Virginia; however, the proximity to USMMA will be a factor in award. TV KINGS POINTER VESSEL CHARACTERISTICS: Length Over All (LOA) 224 Feet Beam 43 Feet Draft 15 Feet The RFP and any related documents for this procurement will be available for downloading on the Federal Business Opportunities website on/about October 25, 2010. ATTENTION: Minority, Women-Owned, and Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBEs)! The Department of Transportation (DOT), Short-Term Lending Program (STLP) offers working capital financing in the form of lines of credit to finance accounts receivable for transportation related contracts. Maximum line of credit is $750,000 with interest at the prime rate, as published daily in the Wall Street Journal, plus 1.75 percent.
