Description
Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is attempting to find sources that can provide a Vehicle Weapons Securing System for its vehicles that can meet the following description: A system that mounts in a vehicle where the driver of the vehicle has immediate access in the cabin area electronically and possibly by key. The system should not prevent the safe transport of a front seat passenger. The system should be rigid and not be easily defeated. The Securing System should secure all CBP carbines and rifles with magazines inserted, to include the Colt M16-M4, M14 with various stocks, the H&K UMP 40 and the Remington 870 Shotgun. The Securing system must be easily adjustable and not require any tools to switch from securing the different types of CBP carbines, rifles or shotguns. The Securing system must also be able to accommodate all CBP carbines, rifles and shotguns with optics, lights and various fore grips and prevent the weapons from being disassembled in place. (Must fit current vehicle types CBP Patrol Vehicles - Ford Crown Victoria, Dodge Charger, Chevrolet Tahoe, Ford Expedition, Ford-Chevrolet-Dodge Pickup Trucks or similar) Please provide your responses to the Contract Specialist via e-mail only. This should be received in the specialist's office not later than 26 January 2011 (3:00 PM Easter Time). In order to maximize the data that can be provided, vendors are recommended to ask questions from the CBP Subject Matter Expert Eric Gough at email address eric.gough@dhs.gov (Note; Business questions should be directed to the Contract Specialist Rick Travis at richard.travis@dhs.gov ). Note: RFI will NOT be shared with other industry suppliers and will solely be used as part of the procurement planning process. Disclaimer: The following requested information to be provided is for planning purposes only and does not constitute a Request for Proposal (RFP) nor does it restrict the Government as to the ultimate acquisition approach. The government does not intend to award a contract on the basis of this RFI or to otherwise pay for the information solicited. Any contract that might be awarded based on information received
