- The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Johnson Space Center plansto release a NASA Research Announcement (NRA), for Ground-based Studies for the SpaceRadiation Program Element (SPRE) in the area of Space Radiation Biology utilizing beamsof high energy ions simulating space radiation at the NASA Space Radiation Laboratory(NSRL) at Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) in Upton, New York. NASA Research Announcement # NNJ11ZSA001N, entitled 'Ground-Based Studies in SpaceRadiobiology', will be available electronically on or about January 27, 2011, by openingthe NASA Research Opportunities homepage at http://nspires.nasaprs.com/ and thenlinking through the menu listings 'Solicitations' to 'Open Solicitations'. Step-1 proposals are due on March 2, 2011, and invited Step-2 proposals are due on May11, 2011. Proposals are required to be submitted electronically and must be submitted byan authorized official of the proposing organization. Participation is open to all categories of organizations, including educationalinstitutions, industry, nonprofit organizations, NASA centers, and other Governmentagencies.Electronic proposals may be submitted via the NASA centers, and other Governmentagencies. Electronic proposals must be submitted via the NASA Proposal data system NSPIRES. Everyorganization that intends to submit a proposal in response to this NRA must be registeredwith NSPIRES, and such registration must identify the authorized organizationalrepresentative(s) who will submit the electronic proposal. Each electronic proposalsystem places requirements on the registration of principal investigators and otherparticipants (e.g. co-investigators). Potential proposers and proposing organizations areurged to access the system(s) well in advance of the proposal due date(s) of interest tofamiliarize themselves with its structure and enter the requested information. Questionsconcerning responding to this NRA may be addressed to the contacts referenced in the fullsolicitation document.This is a broad agency announcement as specified in FAR 6.102 (d)(2). Notwithstanding theposting of this opportunity at FedBizOpps.gov, or nspires.nasaprs.com, NASA reserves theright to determine the appropriate award instrument for each proposal selected pursuantto this announcement.
