- Description
- 36C24925B0010 614-20-109 Cooling Tower Replacement The specs document page 23 list concrete as « NOT USED . Would the government please confirm contractor is to use/leave existing walls and concrete base? A: For clarity, it is understood the question refers to page 3 (not 23) of 398, Table of Contents, which states, DIVISION 03 CONCRETE NOT USED. Although there is no concrete work, section 099100 Painting applies to painting existing concrete. [Lee to verify Client wants interior concrete painted. Also, are ALL engineering disciplines sure we have no new concrete??? No concrete duct banks??? No equipment pads??? Electrical specs have concrete!!!] Would the government please confirm the contractor is to use the existing basins? A: The existing concrete cooling tower basins shall remain and will be reused for the new cooling towers. The submittals reference stainless steel basins, does that imply new basins? A: The cooling towers have an open bottom and discharges into the existing concrete basins. The hot water distribution basin at the top of the towers shall be constructed of stainless steel. Is the government open to similar Towers or brand name specific? A: The government is open to equal cooling towers. However, the cooling tower must meet all design conditions and specifically, the new cooling tower base dimensions must match the existing cooling tower as specified in the schedule on sheet MP601. New towers must be installed on the existing concrete basins. Would the government specify preferred brand or OEM? A: Due to size constraints in the existing area, the original equipment manufacturer, B.A.C., would be preferred, additionally it has been specifically called out as the basis of design in the Cooling Tower Schedule on sheet MP601.
