- Description
- The Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC), Indian Head, MD intends to award a Sole Source Purchase Order to Thermal Hazard Technology for a Rapid Screening Device (RSD). The Rapid Screening Device is a heat-flow/heat accumulation calorimeter that will be used to assess the thermal stability and compatibility of energetic materials by monitoring the heat production and gas production of samples as a function of temperature and time. The RSD is the only currently available instrumentation with the ability to sample both the internal and external sample temperature continuously with the ability to make pressure measurements, up to 2400 psi, without potential of heat loss. Currently, Thermal Hazards Technology is the only company that carries this RSD that will fulfill both safety and experimental requirements.
