Solicitation DACW68-95-B-0042 due 05/31/95 POC Contract Specialist, Donald H. Stiller, 509 527-7205. Vertical Barrier Screens (VBS). Carbon steel and stainless steel. Fabricate and install 42 VBS assemblies. Each assembly consists of a base panel, three screen panels, an outlet transition, and various appurtenances. Largest individual piece is approximately 19'x18'x1'. Remove existing VBS's and install new VBS's in existing guides. Remove Existing Concrete. Modify 42 concrete beams at powerhouse intake deck level by cutting out a section of each beam. Beams are 3 feet thick and heavily reinforced. Length of cut for each beam is 24 feet. Install fabricated steel framing and new handrailing around areas of removed concrete. Modify Intake Gates. Fabricate and install dogging beams in 42 intake gates. Two beams per gate. Dogging beams will support weight of gates when in the raised position. Install four new hydraulic hoses on each gate. Each hose is 58 feet long. Nitrogen Backup System. Install 15 high pressure nitrogen bottles, manifold piping full length of powerhouse (1200 feet), various valves and switches, and connect to governor oil system at each of the 14 turbine units. On Site Work. All work areas will be dewatered by the Government. Government will furnish crane service to move intake gates, fish diversion screens, and dewatering bulkheads. Contractor to furnish crane for handling items to be installed. Estimated cost between $5,000,000 - $10,000,000. Payment of $70 (seventy) for plans and specifications to accompany request for solicitation. The Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) code for this acquisition is 1629.
