The project consists of furnishing manpower, materials, and equipment necessary to complete two primary segments of work. The first is re-roofing the main building and dock area. The second is installing structural bridging above the ceiling of the ''workroom.'' Other work is involved also, such as storefront windows and entrance doors, interior wall work at locations of new drains, new metal panel soffit in dock area, etc. The mail handling operations will continue throughout the bridging work and therefore very close coordination between the contractor and the postal staff is required. In addition, because of the Christmas rush period, no work inside the building will be permitted from Thanksgiving through Christmas 1995, and again from January 2 through January 12, 1996. The estimated cost range is between $610,000 and $670,000. On-site contact is Mr. Henry Zepeda, Maintenance Department (210/971-1745). An informal walk-through will be conducted Friday, July 14, 1995, convening at 9:30 a.m. in the Postmaster's conference room, 630 East Pecan Street, McAllen, Texas.
