Administration (FAA) has a requirement for systems which will acquire
data from FAA owned terminal area weather sensors, process/integrate
the data, and create weather products for air traffic
management/control. These products will be displayed in Air Traffic
Control Towers (ATCT), Terminal Radar Approach Control facilities
(TRACON), and Metroplex Control Facilities (MCF). The weather sensors
include Next Generation Weather Radar (NEXRAD), Terminal Doppler
Weather Radar (TDWR), Airport Surveillance Radar - 9(ASR 9), Low Level
Wind Shear Alert System (LLWAS), Automated Weather Observing
System(AWOS), Automated Surface Observing System (ASOS), and National
Lighting Data Network (NLDN). The effort will include software
development (estimated in excess of 350,000 lines of code), hardware
selection/purchase, and production of four first article units. The
effort will also optionally include production, installation, and
maintenance of 33 ITWS systems plus user training and logistics
support. The Request for Proposal (RFP) will be available on or about
January 2, 1996. The RFP can be obtained in one of two ways: first
