(415)604-4646 Provide services to support research and development
activities at Ames Research Center as follows: 1) provide high quality
support for the manufacture, fabrication, modification, and repair of
experimental research models and hardware, in order to meet the
Center's test programs conducted in the various wind tunnels,
simulators, cen trifuges, and research aircraft located at NASA-Ames;
2) provide for the fabrication, modification and repair of electronic
research hardware; 3) provide equipment maintenance and repair of all
shop equipment, to insure high precision, safe and properly maintained
equipment in order to meet the Center's prototype hardware and manufac
turing needs; and 4) provide calibration and repair services for
instruments and tools used at NASA-Ames. The aircraft, spaceflight, or
man rated experimental hardware may include, but not be limited to,
experimental research equipment, models, model supports, facility
hardware and systems. Tasks will range from working on unique,
technically sophisticated equipment to simple routine work.The
contractor shall be fam iliar with the properties and manufacturing
characteristics of at least the following materials: carbon steels,
stainless steels, aluminum, alloy steels, brass, copper, bronze,
nickel, monel, invar, Molybdenum, titanium, plastic, and ceramics, and
be familiar with surface mount and through hole technology and PCB
manufacturing. The services which include on-site mechanical prototype
manufacturing, on-site electronic prototype manufacturing, machinery
maintenence and repair, instrumenta tion calibration and repair will be
used to support the research efforts at NASA-ARC in the following
areas: Aeronautics, Space Sciences, Center Operations and
Aeroflightdynamics and will essentially be performed at the
Manufacturing Division, Research & Development (R&D) Shops and
Calibration Lab at NASA-Ames Research Center, Moffett Field, CA
94035-1000. A Sources Sought Synopsis for RFP2-36263 was previously
published in the Commerce Business Daily, Issue No. 1298, Wednesday,
March 8, 1995, amended on January 11, 1996. It is anticipated that the
period of performance should not exceed five years, which includes a
base year, beginning approximately April 1, 1997, and four one year
option periods. The shops have day-shift, swing shift and as an option,
graveyard hours of operation, Monday through Friday, five days a week.
The contractor shall be familiar with and capable of performing to ISO
9000 standards. The proposed contract listed herein as a 100 small
business set-aside under Sic Code 8731. The small business size
standard is 1000 employees. The solicitation will be released via the
NASA Acquisition Internet Service (NAIS). All sources may download this

solicitation whall be made available upon written request, but the
closing date will be the same as that required for the NAIS released

not be accepted. The projected solicitation release date for Solicita
tion RFP2-36263(WLS) is 10/01/96. The estimated date for the
preproposal conference and site visit will be October 08, 1996. It is
the offeror's responsibility to monitor the NAIS for solicitation
release as the solicitation will be released as soon as practicable
whether prior or subsequent to the projected date. The expected return
date for an offer is 11/14/96. All responsible sources may submit an
offer which will be considered by the Agency. This procurement is
