The work to be performed under this project consists of the replacement of the central heating system with individual boilers connecting to existing distribution systems for twenty buildings. The new individual boilers will typically be housed in new masonry block additions to each building. Work also includes partial demolition and modifications of existing systems including required asbestos abatement. The estimated cost range of construction is between $500,000 to $1,000,000. Substantial completion shall be in 224 calendar days from the notice to proceed. Collect calls will not be accepted. It is emphasized that requests for Plans and Specifications shall be directed to the A/E firm listed above to ensure proper handling of requests. All requests must be in writing. Requests will be answered on a first-come, first-serve basis until supplies are exhausted. For requests made after the supply is exhausted, the Contracting Officer may determine whether payment of a fee is warranted. The non-refundable fee shall not exceed the actual cost of duplication of the IFB documents, plus COD charges. A pre-bid walk-thru is scheduled for November 12, 1996, at 1:00 p.m. local time.
