Specialist, SEA 02612V, (703) 602-7707 The Naval Sea Systems Command is
pleased to announce the planned Full and Open Competition for the
build-to-specification production contract of the Launched Expendable
Acoustic Device (LEAD) MK 12, 13, 14, and 15. Due to security
restrictions, the competition will be limited to U.S. and U.K. A
production baseline step-ladder quantity from 20 to 250 LEADs and a
total of up to 14,000 LEADs over 4 one year options is anticipated.
These procurement quantities include variants of the LEAD for US, UK
and FMS requirements. A draft Request for Proposal (RFP) and Technical
Data Package (TDP) are scheduled for release within 30 days to solicit
comments. The draft LEAD RFP will be posted on the NAVSEA Contracts
World Wide Web home page (http:// www.contracts.hq.navsea.navy.mil)
under "Acquisition Business Opportunities/Information Documents"
section. The TDP will be available on CD-ROM for a cost of $1,000. The
TDP contains drawings of the design developed during Engineering, and
Manufacturing Development (E&MD)., The TDP is provided as information
only and is not required to respond to this RFP since this is a
build-to-specification contract. Approximately two weeks of comment
period will be allowed after receipt of the TDP/draft RFP. To obtain
the TDP, you are requested to provide the following via overnight mail
to Naval Sea Systems Command, (Attn: A. R. Ketchum, Code SEA 02612) by
6 June 1997: Check or money order for appropriate amount made out to
"HMG" to cover administrative and reproduction cost of the LEAD TDP.
