Z -- FIRST BEACH RENOURISHMENT,SAND KEY BEACH EROSION CONTROL PROJECT, PINELLAS COUNTY, FLORIDA SOL DACW17-97-R-0020 DUE 080197 POC Contract Specialist Robert Mosteller (904) 232-3739 (Site Code DACW17) This is a beach renourishment project for Sand Key on the Gulf Coast of Florida in Pinellas County, Florida. The Base project includes Clearwater Beach and Belleair Beach. These segments of Sand Key are 9,900 feet in combined length and require approximately 1,220,000 cubic yards of sand. As an Optional Bid Item A -- Indian Rocks Beach, Indian Shore, Redington Shores, and North Redington Beach will be nourished with approximately 1,230,000 cubic yards of sand. This optional portion of Sand Key is 36,000 feet in total length. All sand will be obtained from a borrow area located near the entrance of Tampa Bay, 21 miles south of the Base project and 17 miles south of the Optional work. The Base project must be completed by 30 September 1998 and if exercised, the Optional Bid Item A must be completed by 30 September 1999. The berm width for this project ranges from 30 to 135 feet with a foreshore slope of 1 vertical on 20 horizontal. Environmental protection is an important part of this contract. The project also includes removal of a derelict reinforced concrete pier located at Clearwater Beach. Selection will be based on factors other than price. Evaluation factors are as follows: (1) Performance Schedule (2) Past performance (3) Extent of subcontracting of small & small disadvantaged businesses & (4) Price. Magnitude of Construction is over $10,000,000.00. Pre-Solicitation Notice will be issued on or about 17 Jun 97. Invitation DACW17-97-R-0020 will be issued on or about 08 July 97 and open on about 05 Aug 97. Cost of Plans and Specification is $45.00.
