COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF SEPTEMBER 22,1997 PSA#1935INDUSTRY CONFERENCE ENTITLED "NAVAL REQUIREMENTS FOR SATELLITE
COMMUNICATIONS" On 22 October 1997, Naval Space Command will host a
day-long industry conference entitled "Naval Requirements for Satellite
Communications" at the AEGIS Training and Readiness Center Auditorium,
(Building 5395) Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division,
Dahlgren, Virginia. Our purpose for this conference is to provide
industry and interested military representatives details on Naval
SATCOM requirements for narrowband, wideband, and protected satellite
communications. As we build a close partnership between Navy and
industry, we hope to help the SATCOM community understand our critical
Naval needs. This presentation will provide you a detailed
understanding of the Naval use for, and platform requirements for,
satellite communications. The conference will lay out our broad vision
for Network Centric Warfare and focus down to specific platform needs
for various SATCOM media. All briefing materials as well as the Naval
Space Command SATCOM Functional Requirements Document (FRD) will be
available on our homepage (www.navspace.com) under "Industry Day." This
will be an expansive and informational presentation on Naval
communication needs. Vice Admiral Arthur Cebrowski, Director, Space,
Information Warfare, Command and Control has been invited to kick off
our forum with a presentation on "Network Centric Warfare." Rear
Admiral Pat Moneymaker, Commander, Naval Space Command, will provide an
overview of our SATCOM mission. He will describe how the command links
with the fleet on satellite communication issues as a System
Operational Manager and advocate for fleet requirements. Attendance at
