Kellett, Division Director, Emerging IT Applications Division, Office of Governmentwide Policy, 202-501-1650. Due to the increasing complexity of delivering Internet based services, the Federal government is seeking information on products and services for delivering "turnkey webservers". The Federal Government is using the Internet to increase efficiency and productivity and to disseminate and receive information from the general public at an unprecedented level. The information in question can be of a highly personal and confidential nature; and thus subject to privacy and security protection at all levels. Currently a wide mix of software applications, tools, and hardware is required to provide the functionality necessary for the high degree of service delivery, privacy protection and security required by the Federal government in delivering Internet based services. Significant personnel and budget resources are required to integrate the various components in order to deliver Internet based applications. The complexity and costs of integrating the various Internet components is leading to the need for turnkey Webservers for delivering Internet based services. The Office of Governmentwide Policy at the General Services Administration seeks to identify sources for obtaining turnkey webservers to improve the delivery of Internet services to the public, enhance privacy protections and provide more robust security under a program name titled, "Webserver II". The next generation of webserver technology ("Webserver II") requires "tightly coupled" and "highly integrated" hardware, software and telecommunications components that provide firewall protection, virus protection, encryption, digital signatures, system and application security, operating systems, seamless connection to data bases and other required components as an integrated solution set. The solution set must be easy to install, easy to configure and easy to use for a customer base ranging from "near novice" to very sophisticated users or system administrators. Parties who have products and services for providing turnkey webservers in whole or in part, or have an interest in commenting on this RFI, should submit their responses to : GSA/MKE Room 2222 ATTN.: G. Kirksey 18th & F. Streets, NW Washington, DC 20405 Responses may be product literature or written summaries. The Federal government is primarily at this time seeking product literature on available products and services for providing turnkey webservers. If respondents choose to provide written summaries please submit the information as an electronic file in either MSWORD 6.0 or Wordperfect 5.1 or a file format that is compatible with one of the above word processors via the Internet to gonza.kirksey@gsa.gov. All written summaries should be limited to ten double-spaced pages or less. Again, we reiterate that this is arequest for information only at this time. GSA will share this information at the monthly Federal Webmaster Forum (www.itpolicy.gsa.gov), at conferences open to the Federal government and the public addressing webservers, and also may use the information to develop multiagency contracts if the proper market conditions exi (0274)
