COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF MARCH 24,1998 PSA#2058GREENHOUSE GAS TECHNOLOGY VERIFICATION TESTING: IMPROVED REFRIGERATION
DEFROST CYCLE TECHNOLOGIES. EPA has awarded a cooperative agreement
(CR826311) to Southern Research Institute (SRI) to establish and
operate an Environmental Technology Verification Center (the Center) in
the area of greenhouse gas mitigation technologies. This program is
designed to verify the performance of commercial-ready and near
commercial greenhouse gas mitigation technologies through the
collection and evaluation of objective and quality-assured laboratory
and field data. The Center provides potential purchasers and others
with an independent and credible assessment of what they are buying,
and will increase the use of viable environmental technologies that are
currently under-used due to a lack of credible third-party performance
data. The Center is considering the verification of commercial ready
technologies that can significantly reduce energy use in residential
refrigeration defrosting cycles. The technologies must be capable of
being easily integrated into existing residential refrigeration
systems, and yield reliable and highly cost-effective performance.
Those interested in being considered for independent verification of
the energy savings and other features associated with such a technology
should contact Stephen Piccot at SRI, by FAX at (919) 403-0284, or,
contact the Center's web site (www.sri.org/greenhouse.html). Candidates
selected for testing must be prepared to significantly share in the
cost of testing, analysis, reporting, and results distribution.
Inquiries must be received by April 17, 1998, in order to be
considered. Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0358 19980324\SP-0001.MSC)
