Y -- PRE-SOLICITATION ANNOUNCEMENT: FIREARMS RANGE RENOVATION/RANGE TRAINING CENTER: PHASE 1 AND 2 CONSTRUCTION AT THE FBI ACADEMY, QUANTICO, VIRGINIA SOL IFB-7213 POC Mr. Mark R. Hazen, Contract Specialist,(202)324-4528 This is a pre-solicitation announcement. The Federal Bureau of Investigation FBI will be soliciting bids utilizing full and open competition for the construction of Phases 1 and 2 of the FIREARMS RANGE RENOVATION/RANGE TRAINING CENTER at the FBI Academy, Quantico, Virginia. The project consists of, but is not limited to the following: demolition of existing firearms ranges and buildings, lead soil remediation, and construction of new firearms range improvements and structures. The construction work consists of, but is not limited to, the following: civil work, concrete work, structural steel structures, precast concrete, aluminum and glass, concrete masonry units, ceramic tile, acoustical ceilings, metal doors and frames, metal railings, toilet partitions and accessories, vinyl tile and base, gypsum board systems, paint, louvers, mechanical/electrical/plumbing systems, ballistic walls and protection, bullet traps and target systems and standing seam metal roofing. The estimated cost of construction forthe Phases 1 and 2 bid package is over $15,000,000. It is anticipated that the complete Range Project will be bid in multiple bid packages, the first bid package being for Phases 1 and 2. Anticipated release date for the first bid package is in September 1998. Performance and Payment bonds will be required for all bid packages. The FBI contemplates the award of firm-fixed price contracts as a result of these solicitations. The bidders awarded the resultant contracts shall be subject to background investigations on its company and all individuals assigned to these projects. No further information on these projects are available at this time. Further information will be published at a later date in the Commerce Business Daily (CBD).
