Kendrick, (540) 983-1048 The VA Medical Center, Salem, Virginia, intends to issue Solicitation No. RFP 658-01-99 o/a 08/18/98. Contractor shall be responsible for the design and construction necessary to upgrade the HVAC system that services the basement, first and second floors of Building 8. Design shall include engineering design work to prepare a coordinated set of shop drawings for the installation of a new HVAC system and rework of the existing system. Work requires complete evaluation of the architectural, structural, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical conditions related to the new system. Build work shall consist of all required demolition and construction associated with the site prep, equipment installation, and start up of new HVAC system. A new linen chute shall be furnished and installed. Contractor shall accomplish design and complete construction within nine (9) months from date of award. Asbestos abatement is not a part of this project. This procurement is restricted to those firms within a 200-mile radius ofthe VA Medical Center, Salem, Virginia. SIC Code 1711 applies. The size standard is $7.0 Million Dollars in gross annual sales. Phase One proposals shall be due o/a 10/02/98. After review by the Evaluation Board, no more than five (5) offerors will be requested to submit a Phase Two proposal.
