18 -- MILSATCOM MILSATCOM'98: Users' Perspective Symposium This is an update to the announcement published 2 September 1998 (W-245 SN 244887). The MILSATCOM Joint Program Office announces the 4th AFCEA/MILSATCOM Symposium. This classified conference, sponsored by the Los Angeles chapter of the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association, is scheduled for 5-6 November 1998 and will be held at the Aerospace Corporation, El Segundo, CA, with a banquet at the Marriott, Manhattan Beach, CA. This year's MILSATCOM Symposium, Users' Perspective, emphasizes the emerging vision of Military Satellite Communication services to the warfighter. Topics of the symposium include Air Force, Army, and Navy MILSATCOM requirements, and commercial and military satellite communication integration issues. Keynote speakers will include Vice Admiral Lyle Bien, Deputy, CINC/Chief of Staff, USSPACECOM, and Rear Admiral Robert Nutwell, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense, C3ISR and Space Systems. Brigadier General James Hylton, Deputy Director for Operations, Defense Information Systems Agency, is the banquet speaker. Each of the Services and the DoD will address their unique requirements for satellite communications and both military and industry panels will discuss the application of commercial systems to MILSATCOM and the integration of commercial systems into the military infrastructure. In addition, demonstrations of the Global Broadcast System, Iridium, and Milstar satellite communications systems will take place.
