GSA SPONSORS COMDEX Y2K PAVILLION AT COMDEX/ FALL 1999 ( 11/15-19/1999)-LAS VEGAS June 11, 1999 AN OPEN LETTER TO THE INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY INDUSTRY SUBJECT: GSA SPONSORS COMDEX Y2K PAVILION AT COMDEX/FALL '99 GSA's Year 2000 & IT Issues Division of the Office of Information Technology sponsored the highly successful COMDEX Y2K Pavilion at COMDEX Fall '98, November 16-20 in Las Vegas, Nevada. COMDEX Fall '98 offered the right venue at the right time to highlight Year 2000 issues, disseminate information about Y2K-compliant products and services, and promote the Federal Y2K COTS Products Database to an audience of over 200,000 IT professionals. The Y2K Pavilion and GSA Y2K booth attracted several thousand interested participants from a diverse group of COMDEX attendees, including small business leaders, local government personnel, foreign officials and educators. GSA exhibited and demonstrated multiple Internet Websites developed by the Federal government for the benefit of public and private sectors. Starting with GSA's IT Policy OnRamp at http://www.itpolicy.gsa.gov, the exhibit focused on a variety of informative sites such as The U.S. government Chief Information Officers Council Committee on Year 2000 COTS Products Compliancy database, and others. The exhibit also demonstrated Year 2000 Websites developed by GSA for the CIO Council the President's Council on Year 2000 Conversion (www.y2k.gov), which contains thousands of links to Federal, state, local, international, and industry Internet sites. GSA is sponsoring the COMDEX Y2K Pavilion at COMDEX/FALL '99, this November 15-19, 1999, in Las Vegas, NV.
