Corps Systems Command intends to pursue through a small business
set-aside, a single award production contract for the Combat Vehicle
Appended Trainer (CVAT). The development phase for CVAT is underway.
The production system will host the Marine Corps' CVAT software
platform currently being developed by The Raydon Corporation. The SIC
code for this procurement is 3699. CVAT will be a family of high
fidelity, deployable, precision gunnery networked training systems that
will append to the actual operational weapons platforms of the Abrams
Main Battle Tank (M1A1) and Light Armored Vehicle (LAV-25). A total of
approximately 78 CVAT systems are planned for production (36 M1A1 and
42 LAV-25). The contract vehicle will utilize Firm Fixed Price (FFP)
CLINs for production units. Currently, NO DRAFT SOLICITATION
DOCUMENTATION EXISTS. Contract award is projected for 3rd QTR FY 01. A
program time-line, detailed acquisition strategy and information on
the development effort will be posted to the Marine Corps Systems
Command web page (www.marcorsyscom.usmc.mil/mcscctq/cvat.htm) by 24
