CALL FOR VENDORS FOR ENVIRONMENTAL TECHNOLOGY VERIFICATION (ETV) UNDER EPA/NSF ETV PILOT FOR SOURCE WATER PROTECTION TECHNOLOGIES NSF International (NSF) and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) are cooperatively working on an Environmental Technology Verification (ETV) pilot program addressing technologies impacting Source Water Protection (SWP). Details about the ETV Program and the ETV Source Water Protection Pilot are available on the USEPA web site (www.epa.gov/etv) and on the NSF web site (www.nsf.org/etv). The SWP Pilot is seeking vendors of technologies for Residential Nutrient Reduction and Decentralized Wastewater Treatment. Residential Nutrient Reduction applies to systems having hydraulic capacities up to 1,500 gallons per day. The most recent draft of the ETV SWP Pilot protocol for Nutrient Reduction Technologies can be found on the ETV web site under the "Documents" section. Testing will be completed over a one year period at controlled dosing test sites. The vendor will be expected to provide and install the technology at the test site, and share the testing expenses. The ETV SWP Pilot protocol for Decentralized Wastewater Treatment Technologies will soon be available for general stakeholder review. The testing will be completed in field locations, selected by the vendor to demonstrate the performance of their technology for a specific type of wastewater. The test duration will also be one year, to address any seasonal fluctuations in performance. The ETV Pilot Program has limited funding available to assist vendors with the cost of testing. The amount of dollars available to each vendor will be determined based on the number of applications received for each of the technology areas. Applications must be received by NSF by the following dates for a vendor to be considered for testing support: Residential Nutrient Reduction -- Friday, August 25, 2000 Decentralized Wastewater Treatment -- Friday, September 8, 2000 Following these dates, the support level will be established and a contract for testing will be entered into between NSF and the vendor. All interested vendors are encouraged to complete and submit an application form and any requested information to NSF by the dates listed above. Financial support to vendors for testing by the ETV Program beyond this round of testing will be dependent on the availability of funds at that time. For an ETV Source Water Protection Pilot application form, or for additional information, please contact either Maren Roush of NSF at (734) 827-6821 or at mroush@nsf.org, or Tom Stevens of NSF at (734) 769-5347 or at stevenst@nsf.org.
