Description

The Air Force Research Laboratory/ Munitions Directorate, Eglin AFB, FL, intends to solicit, negotiate, and award a sole-source firm-fixed price contract to Intercontinental Manufacturing, under the authority of FAR 6.302-1(a)(2), to forge prototype tantalum liners for adaptable warhead liners. The solicitation number for this announcement is MNK 00-011. This requirement is for forging 10 warhead liner blanks of pure tantalum with the following requirements/specifications: The vender shall engineer and fabricate tooling suitable for forging 2.50 inch diameter by 3.40 inch long cylinders of tantalum into components with final dimensions of 9.0 inch diameter by 0.25 inch thickness (tantalum will be provided by the Government). The vender must also procure pure copper material with the dimensions 2.50 inch in diameter and machine cylinders of the copper to a length of 3.40 inches to be used for verifying the geometry of the forging dies, prior to making tantalum components. The vender shall mount the dies on a forge and fabricate test liner blanks of copper to the dimensions specified. When fabrications have been produced to the desired specifications, the vender shall fabricate the 10 required tantalum components. Items must be delivered to AFRL/MNMW, Bldg 13, 101 West Eglin Blvd., Eglin AFB, FL 32542, no later than 17 weeks after receipt of order on an FOB Destination basis. The Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) for this acquisition is 3463 small business size standard: 500 employees. Interested parties may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, all responses received prior to the response date will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
