Description
PART: SPECIAL NOTICES OFFADD: Navy League of the United States, San Diego Council, 3333 Sandrock Road, San Diego, CA 92123 SUBJECT: Operational Commander's Assessment Conference 25 January 2001. DESC: The San Diego Council of the United States Navy League is sponsoring a "Operational Commanders' Assessment of Force Readiness" conference on 25 January, 2001 in conjunction with the West 2001. West 2001 (www.afcea.org) is the annual San Diego conference sponsored by AFCEA and the Naval Institute. The West 2001 conference runs from 9:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 23 and concludes at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, 25 January 2001. This Navy League sponsored conference is being held from 1:30 p.m. -- 4:30 p.m. following the West 2001 closing luncheon on Thursday, the 25th. The conference will consist of two separate panel discussions by senior Operational Commanders giving their assessments of the readiness of the forces they command. The first (invited) panel is a Three Star Panel consisting of COMNAVAIRPAC; COMSURFPAC; Commander, Third Fleet; and CG I MEF. The second panel will be comprised of senior officers from Pacific commands (CARGRU, PHIBGRU, SPECWAR and Marine Air). This conference is designed for the operational commanders to tell industry how they assess the capabilities of their respective forces to conduct operations using existing military systems. The purpose of the conference is to allow industry to get the operational perspective of force readiness and to hear first hand where current equipment and systems are working or not working and where industry and the acquisition community should focus their future efforts in meeting operational requirements. Last year's inaugural conference featured discussions of C4ISR and was held in conjunction with the NDIA / SPAWAR industry days. It was well received by both industry and government. This year's conference will be held at the San Diego Conference Center at 111 Harbor Drive. Cost is $75.00. (No charge for military in uniform and government service personnel with proper identification.). Corporate Sponsorships are available. For registration and additional information, go to www.navyleague.com or contact Jack Clark or Annie Driggs at (619) 557-9130.
